What do you think the fire represents? Does this appear to represent judgment due to sin? Can you see the fire destroy what has been corrupted by sin?ġ8:10 - great city - once again, this could be Jerusalem, Rome, Babylon or some other city that symbolizes the world's opposition to God.ġ8:11 - one of my commentaries says this is the catalog of Tyrian merchandise in Ezekiel 27:12. Fire - pyr - fire, flames (Strong's 4442/KWSB 4786). Compare with Genesis 11:4 - the tower of Babel (Babylon).ġ8:6 - See Psalms 137:8 (AMP) 18:7 - See Isaiah 47:8-9 (AMP)ġ8:8 - Babylon will be consumed with fire. We are to leave Babylon/our attitudes and behaviors in opposition to God.ġ8:5 - sins depicted as "piled up in heaven". Then return here and ponder the thoughts, answer the questions, and be sure to leave comments about your own revelations.ġ8:2-3 - speaks of Babylon as if it were a cultural mindset like Beth Moore taught in her Daniel Bible study or the study notes in my Bible that say it is symbolic of the world opposed to God.ġ8:4 - God's people are instructed to "come out of her" so that we will not sin with her and receive punishment.
